The Power of Lending a Hand

We work hard every day, and we have fun doing it, but as a company iuvo Technologies also want to give back to our community whenever we can. That is exactly what we did by coming together to volunteer at the Lazarus House.

The Lazarus House is a nonprofit organization filled with a staff whose support gives strength and hope to individuals who walk through their doors. Since opening in 1983, they have helped countless families struggling with poverty by providing food and housing. The programs they have put into place are designed to help stretch dollars, so families can afford rent, heat, utilities and other basic essentials. The housing that the Lazarus House provides residence a safe haven to help get them back on their feet.

Going to the Lazarus House was a wonderful opportunity for us as a team. Right as we stepped foot in Lazarus House, there was an overwhelming sense of protection and warmth. Here at iuvo Technologies, we strive to do the best not only at IT services but also for our neighboring communities. It really comes down to our core values as a company be socially and environmentally responsible. The teamwork that we had while at the Lazarus House was great. Marcy, Director of Volunteers at Lazarus House said “We were so grateful for how your team jumped right in and how much you managed to achieve…laughing all the way!” We were broken up into two groups. A few of us were in the kitchen doing dinner prep and serving. The other half was sent down to the basement to organize and stock donations that had come in. After we all came back together in the kitchen, the two groups became one and every step of the way we worked together as a team.

Once all the tasks assigned were completed, Marcy gave the team an overview of the Lazarus House. She explained that there are six locations, making up the Lazarus House Ministries; each one holding a different but vital part of what makes this organization so great.

Even though we were there for a short amount of time, we realized that there was so much more that we could do. With so many different locations, each with different needs, this is definitely an organization that we will look forward to working with again in the future.
