Congratulations! You’ve made the decision to outsource some or all of your organization’s IT services. That’s step one of getting your IT in fighting shape. But for some organizations, step two - figuring out what type of IT support they need - can be a challenge. Let us help.
As with anything in life, there are numerous different types of IT support to choose from. Some companies may need just one or two components of IT management, while others may opt to dive in and sign up for every type of service there is and - of course - there’s every combination in between available.
For the purpose of this post, it’s important to point out that not every IT service provider handles their services and packages in the same way. However, the types of support that we’re going to discuss are basic services that many IT service providers in Boston offer and are definitely services that we, at iuvo Technologies, offer.
Systems and Network Administration
When people think of IT service providers this is what they’re typically thinking of. Systems and Network Administration is the bread and butter of IT and the service that most people are going to opt for when they’re looking at vendors and selecting service offerings. This is what keeps IT running smoothly and most service providers offer some combination of ongoing, proactive maintenance as well as remote monitoring and help desk support.
Security and Data Protection
As more of the business world moves online, network protection and data security has never been more important. With some IT service providers, this service is bundled in with their Systems and Network Administration offerings, whereas with others you can sign on to this service as an a la carte offering. Either way, it’s definitely something that your organization will want to look into to ensure that your data - including client information, business data, and sensitive personnel information - are well protected.
Business Continuity and Data Backup/Restoration
In the last few years, business continuity has become a much larger talking point throughout the business world. For many organizations, especially those that are just starting out, they don’t think much about the “what ifs” of their data management. They may be running routine backups, either manually or automatically, or using cloud storage for their data storing needs and think that’s enough.
Unfortunately, though, it isn’t. Yes, cloud storage is an excellent first step in having a strong business continuity plan and being able to back up your data. But there are other components that go into it as well, such as considering where your employees will work from, how often your data should be backed up based on the business needs of your organization, and how long your organization can feasibly be “down” before it begins to impact operations negatively to a point of no return. Many IT service providers offer business continuity planning as a separate service so that they can focus on coming up with a comprehensive plan that meets their clients’ unique needs - but even if it’s a separate service, it isn’t one that should be overlooked.
Startup Implementation
This is a fairly new offering in the IT world. For companies that have been around a while, their IT has grown and matured with them. With Startup Implementation, an offering that iuvo Technologies specializes in as part of our white glove service, we work with businesses on the ground floor to ensure that their IT is sufficient for their current needs and will grow with them seamlessly as their business expands. We provide soup to nuts startup services for IT and facilities so that you can focus on why you became a startup, to bring your product or service to market.
This type of service not only includes purchasing hardware, but also involves determining the best types of software solutions to meet an organization’s needs. It also includes helping them achieve and implement their goals at the beginning stages of getting the business off the ground.
Businesses that invest in this type of service are able to save themselves a lot of time and headaches down the line since their IT is already suited to growth. They’re able to anticipate growth in advance rather than trying to frantically keep up and end up with some sort of Frankenstein’s Monster IT solution of slapped together components and “band-aids.”
